ARE YOU ELIGIBLE FOR LEGAL AID?
Mackesys offers legal aid to all our clients who are eligible.
Legal Aid is available:
For ALL Clients at the POLICE STATION.
For ALL Clients at the CROWN COURT, regardless of means (this is likely to change in 2009)
For ALL Clients aged 18 and under at YOUTH & MAGISTRATES COURT.
For Clients in receipt of certain Benefits and subject to the case justifying representation (Interests of Justice Test).
For some employed clients in receipt of wages subject to both means testing and Interests of Justice test.
Legal Aid is NOT available:
At Magistrates Court if your income exceeds £22,000
Most Road Traffic Offences
Any offences not attracting a custodial sentence.
If the Client is self-employed or in business (the proof of Means is often difficult to establish).
PRIVATE FUNDING:
This can be arranged for all matters.
Mackesys offers fixed fees.
If you win, we will apply for you to recover most, if not all, of your costs back.
